HISTORY

After a career in the RAF as a Flight Engineer flying on Hercules and Nimrod aircraft I semi-retired to my lovely wife's home town of Nairn in the Highlands of Scotland.  Having spent several years at a posting in Cornwall I became interested in boating.  Nairn was a busy fishing village in the past era of the herring industry and posses a sheltered harbour that is now utilised mainly by pleasure vessels so I decided to purchase a boat and formed Nairn Boat Trips.

My friend and I both owned small motor sailers and decided to offer trips to visitors during the summer season. Luckily the Highland Council was one of the few Scottish Councils to agree with the MCA to offer their own licenses and my application was duly granted.  Over the years the business grew and boats changed and I eventually ended up with a purpose built cabin rib with a jet drive offering dolphin trips, cabable of carrying twelve passengers.  As a "one man band" these trips took up all of my days during the summer months and as I'm now seventy five I decide to slow down and offer less trips.

A local company bought the business and continued to offer dolphin trips which was excellent news for the holiday town of Nairn.  To keep myself occupied I decided to purchase a smaller capacity boat, offer "round the bay trips"and not to disturb the dolphins with increased traffic at their feeding grounds at Channory Point, in line with the Dolphin Space Program protection policy.

The latest boat, a Portland 10, "Sea Swift", is an excellent sea boat and has a cabin and an open viewing aft deck.  We regularly see dolphins, porpoises, other wildlife and variety of sea birds plus the beautiful Moray Coastline, so I'm stll providing enjoyable trips but not so frequent!
